R＆B经典之作-Don't Want To Try

Frankie J是一名歌手兼词典作者，他有着一般R&B歌手所没有的独特背景，他出生在墨西哥的提华纳，在美国圣迭戈长大，作为一个自由风格拉丁歌手签约，以前曾是拉丁流行音乐组合A.B. Quintanilla y Los Kumbia Kings的成员。
他在两岁时随父母一起来到美国圣迭戈，从小一直说西班牙语，受到cumbias、rancheras（墨西哥传统民俗音乐）和bandas（侧重铜管乐器的墨西哥舞曲）等音乐的熏陶，在转向R&B之前，他还听Rap和都市流行音乐。受到家人的鼓励，他在中学就开始唱歌，参加各种才艺表演和比赛。15岁时，他作为自由风格的拉丁歌手和加拿大一家小唱片公司签约，录制了几首歌。1977年，他转向一家大一点的唱片公司签了约，不幸的是他的专辑还没来得及发行，这家公司就倒闭了。
1999年，拉丁流行音乐组合A.B. Quintanilla y Los Kumbia Kings发现了他，他在这个组合中待了三年半，和别人一起担任主唱，并为这个组合写了几首R&B风格的歌。2003年年初，一直想独立发展的Frankie J离开了这个组合，走进了录音棚。当年他的首张专辑R&B风格的《What's A Man To Do》发行，并登上了专辑排行榜，其中的“Don't Wanna Try”也成了热门上榜单曲。不久，他又发行了以自己名字命名的西班牙语LP专辑，向世人展示了他多元文化的一面。
